To my two best democratic friends...
I'm sure the shock of the republican thrashing has sent you closer to
the edge. However, your good republican friend has some food for
thought. One of the reasons I logged off of Michael's blog earlier
this year was due to the fact of all the bush bashing. Later, I began
to realize that this harsh hatred of Bush was the ball and chain that
would probably sink the election for the dems. Michael Moore did more
to elect bush than to defeat him.
The left coast and left right coast has the ear of the main stream
press. The chatter of bush bashing was amplified by networks,
magazines and newspapers around the country. In response, the silent
majority woke up, dust off their election cards, put the golf clubs
away for a morning and voted. Bush got the largest number of votes in
the history of the presidential elections. He won 33 states, etc.....
It was just short of a landslide, not a close election as the press
would make it out. The press! Ha!
Here's the bigger problem for the dems. The republicans are going
after New York and California in 08. That's the objective of the
republican party. To move the agenda in the middle to attract more
voters from New York and the left coast. If they do it, and they will,
forget about 08 and 12. Plus we will end up with 60 or a voting
majority in the senate. Disaster. Can you say President Rudy - he may
be getting too old, but he's the type republican that can win in NY,
CA, Fl, OH, TX, PA - landslide.
The republicans are very good at slowly expanding their base. Bush
made a smart move. He got the Florida jews with his strong support of
Israel and his health care and social security plans added elderly
votes too. Florida wasn't even close. Although his policies may be
flawed, they were enough to win Florida and not piss off the other red
states.
That's how Bush expanded his based and won the election.
Today, all over the news, you hear the same old story coming from the
leaders of the democratic party. The story is old and dead in this
country. Take a look at what has happened in the last 15 years in the
country. Under a predominately conservative agenda, crime is down,
interest rates are down, unemployment is down, inflation is down and
the economy continues to be the envy of the world.
In the first twenty years of my life, under a liberal agenda, I never
thought is was even possible in a country the size of the US to have so
much change.
New York City is a great example. Under Dinkins, crime escalates out
of control. Under Rudy, New York becomes the safest city in the world.
I was shocked that it happened.
Why would I vote democratic? Sure there are big problems caused by
Bush, but the biggest of problems, see above, have been solve by
conservative agendas. Yes, Clinton was a conservative and I voted for
him. Thus, going down the road, I'm sticking with what's been
working.
In the next four years, Iraq is going to become a big success. The
economy is going to get a lot strong. The deficit will come down.
Educational reform will have moved up another notch. Healthcare and
social security are problems that will take five terms before their is
any real change, but in four years there might be some progress.
Overall, the country is moving in the right direction. Are we
perfect, no. Better than 25 years ago, much!
I have one word of advice for my democratic friends - Barack Obama.
He the voice of the future for your party. We need a two party system.
Change it!!!!!
