Tennis In Heaven
I thought that was a much nicer title than the other one, however, this is
just a very scant addition to my lack of memory about Beth whom I mentioned
left not too long ago. My memory is so bad sometimes, it was so long ago,
but I remember now, in high school the tennis instructor's son went on to
win State championship, and Beth went on to win Singles State Championship 3
times, then she went on to be 5th out of everyone in her age class,
nationally. Strange little people come from this little town, like me, like
George Strait, like the guy down the street, like Beth. I guess they come
from all kinds of little towns everywhere. Now and then I remember those I
can. George Strait was the first "Rock" singer I ever knew. He had a
little rock band here in town back in high school and I'd go over to his
pop's house to watch them work out, he had hair down to his *ss and wore
paisley shirts etc, then I went away, and he just went "Country" one day,
last I heard he still had a little band together somewhere. I told someone
out of town long time ago that George was the first Rock singer I had ever
known and he was so insulted he punched me for lying. Oh well. Anyway,
Beth went on to do many more things, for many more people and children, than
just play tennis, but I was just wondering tonight, again, as they put her
to rest today, that if there is tennis in Heaven, she is knocking the crap
out of the ball again right about now. My memory popped back up again and I
remembered that the tennis instructor used to pair me up with both his son
and Beth, and I was sitting here thinking I must have been going places if I
was playing them both constantly, but then it dawned on me, he was just
letting them cut their teeth on me until they could beat the crap out of me
consistently and go on to "perfection". For a moment, I was getting a big
head, and then I realized I was just a training device and my brain squeezed
back into my ears with a faint whimper. Oh well, regardless, I just thought
I'd add that that little girl in high school went on to become 5th best
tennis player in her age in the nation. I'm sure she's on to better things
now. The end. Back to Earth's bs again now and the madness. It was fun
thinking about her for a few moments.
