As a member of Move On, I was assigned to hand out info at my local
polling place. It was relatively quiet, but here are a few of the things
that I noticed:
A man in this district who had a precinct number that was not only not in
this area but on the other side of the county in another town! Was he
allowed to vote? I don't know, he did not check back in with me.
People in the same household, one had been assigned to another district;
One woman who had applied for an absentee ballot which she did not
receive (her husband did get his and they applied at the same time). She
had to demand a provisional ballot, which they did not want to give her,
as her right as a citizen to vote! She did check back in with me and we
were so proud of her.
People whose voting place had been changed, they were in their 70's and
had always voted at this polling place, luckily there new spot was only a
few blocks away;
Most of the people who did speak to us were definitely pro Kerry, there
was a very upbeat and hopeful feeling; and
My PERSONAL experience, a voting card which would not go into the
machine! (Electronic here in FL) After many tries by both myself and
the person who was trained to trouble shoot the machines, I asked for
another card. They REFUSED and insisted on "reactivating" the card.
After reactivation, it still took several tries before the actual voting
screen was activated. Then I was told that the vote was registered in
the machine and that the card would be reactivated later for another
voter. VERY SUSPICIOUS TO ME, I still am uneasy as to whether my vote
counted.
So much for the "new updated foolproof electronic system" in Florida.
With Florida going Republican at the last minute, I am suspicious of all
kinds of things. I went to bed Tuesday night knowing that Kerry had PA,
was neck in neck in Ohio and pretty sure that the morning would be a
great day. Woke up to a map full of RED. I felt like we had been
attacked by the "reds" overnight. I would not be surprised if History
reveals that Bush's minions were working overtime all night long to
negate or destroy many Democratic votes.
What was needed at the polls, was someone counting how many people really
voted, not which way or anything else, but HOW MANY WALKED IN AND WALKED
OUT HAVING SUCCESSFULLY VOTED. There would be the only way to expose any
voter fraud.
Also, I am so curious as to why most polling places in Florida are in
Churches? AND lines are formed out in the sun where there was a
beautiful covered and shaded atrium/courtyard inside the building.
People have no common sense.
