Nina:

It is possible to access bits of the old Jabberwocky List in a roundabout way.

Try the following:

1. Google "MB-Hair jabberwocky" (without the ".." marks). You should get
    three or so results.

2. Click on text at bottom of new page where it says "repeat the search
    with the omitted results included.". You will get a random selection
    of six pages old mails - not the same ones each time I found.

3. Select a mail and click at the end of the entry where it says "cached"


It's a slow way of doing it but anyone with sufficient interest, time 
and energy could recover many of the posts and order them by date. 
Other similar strategies may recover more (e.g. including in initial 
Google search other keywords such as 'August', 'Butler', 'Vol 13', 
'Nina', etc.).

Seems Google keeps cached versions more or less indefinitely !!
