>From what I've heard the New Collectives concerts are great fun. One of
the gals who helps run them, is a whirlwind. So, this could be a fun
thing, if you know someone to forward it to! Best, Jim

NEW VOICES COLLECTIVE SEEKING SONG SUBMISSIONS FOR DECEMBER HOLIDAY
SAMPLER

The New Voices Collective is seeking song submissions for our December
Holiday Sampler concert, the second concert of our 2005-2006 New Voices
series.

We are looking for a wide range of songs and hope to interpret the word
"holiday" in the broadest possible sense:

-Songs can be funny or serious (or both).

-Songs can be about specific holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa -
you name it) or about the season in general.

-Songs can be directly on topic or tangentially so - sometimes the
tangential makes for a more textured evening.

-Songs can be theatre songs, cabaret songs, or art songs; lyrics can be
original or can be settings of poems.

-Duets, trios, quartets, etc. are welcome as well as solos.

Submission requirements:

Please include a score for your song as well as a demo recording of some
kind. The demo should preferably be on CD, although cassette is fine.
Please do not feel obligated to go overboard on the demo: sitting at the
piano and singing through your tune will suffice – it's really just to
get an accurate idea of the composer's intentions. You can either send
your submission by mail, or, if you are so inclined, email either a
Finale or PDF file of your score and some kind of audio file (mp4, etc.)
of your demo to the email address below. Mail is fine, but the email
route is probably the most efficient.

We encourage you to send your submissions as soon as possible, although
submissions should be received no later than November 1, 2005. Please
note that the concert is coming up quickly – the sooner we receive
your submissions, the more time we have to consider your work!

Submissions should be sent to the following address:

New Voices Collective
c/o Symphony Space
2537 Broadway
New York, NY 10025
Attn: Doug Okerson

or emailed to:
newvoicescoll at gmail.com

We regret that we will be unable to return any unused submissions.
