Palden Gyatso, one of Tibet's longest-serving political prisoners, has 
toured the world speaking about China's oppression in Tibet. His 
description of the Chinese government's torture methods has shocked 
audiences while his compassion and courage have inspired many to support 
the Tibetan cause. Palden spent 33 years in Chinese prisons for joining 
nonviolent demonstrations calling for Tibetan independence.
