I just posted this piece from today’s Op-Ed page in the Boston Globe to our sister site, MB-CIVIC. I am sure many of you hee at the HAIR blog will love its message. It’s an article adapted from one written for Al-Jazeerah by an unlike pair: an American history professor and a Pakistani rock musician. LeVine, who teaches history at the University of California – Irvine, is the author of the forthcoming ‘Heavy Metal Islam: Rock, Religion, and the Struggle for the Soul of Islam.’ Salman Ahmed is the founder and lead guitarist for the Pakistani rock band Junoon.
