On July 1, 1996, Organic and Touchstone theaters successfully completed their historic merger. Organic and Touchstone are the first theaters in the country to successfully complete a merger. We are embarking on a new era of mid-sized not-for-profit theater. We believe this era will see a great deal of merger, collaboration, and co-production. We are proud to be considered a national model in the not-for-profit merger arena. The Organic Touchstone Company believes that true theater should not merely dazzle the eye, it should illuminate the human condition and enrich the spirit. We are passionately committed to theater with depth of character and literary strength--experiences which endure well beyond each play's final act. We arise out of the richness of Chicago's cultural diversity, reflect it, and believe in nurturing its relationship to theater's universal ideas and values through performance, education, and outreach.
