Lamont Washington, a principal player in the Broadway legit musical Hair died August 25 in New York of burns received in a fire in his apartment, August 10. He had suffered burns over at least 50% of his body in addition to injuries sustained while jumping out of the blazing building. He had played the role of Hud in the musical for more than 100 performances.
Washington previously gained recognition with his understudy of Sammy Davis, Jr. in the Broadway run of "Golden Boy," having played the role several times in 1965 after Advise suffered injuries on the stage.
Survived by parents and two sisters.
