The closing notice has been posted for Hair, the rock musical that has been running at the Biltmore Theatre since April 29, 1968. The show may close after Sunday night's performance, the 1,702d, unless there is an upsurge in business and economic concessions are made by the theater operator and the theater unions. One of the theater's most highly profitable ventures, Hair has had numerous productions here and abroad. It has book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot. Tom O'Horgan staged it.
NOTE: Hair did not, in fact, close that Sunday night. The closing notice came down, and went back up several more times. Hair played on for 6 more weeks after this article was written, finally closing after the July 1, 1972 evening performance.
